    Abstract:

Diamond-like carbon coatings were deposited onto pure titanium by Multi-arc pulse ion plating technique and used in vivo. Adhering of candida albicans of DLC, TiN, Anodizing and uncoated pure titanium was compared and the cytotoxicity of DLC was evaluated using scanning electron microscope, spectrophotometer, roughness apparatus and cell microscope. Experimental results indicate that the amount of candida albicans, change of roughness and reflectivity on DLC are least among the four groups of the samples. Surface morphology has little change. Cytotoxicity test shows DLC coatings are safe to L-929 cells. DLC coatings can endure daily brushing wear, are also safe to human, showing potential value in dental repair.
