Abstract:The dynamic compression properties of 15% two-dimensional continuous fiber net (TC4 net) reinforced aluminum matrix composites were investigated by MTS and Hopkinson pressure bar at temperatures from 25 ℃ to 550℃ and strain rates of 0.001 S-1, 1 S-1 and 1500 S-1, respectively. The results show that the composite exhibits positive strain rate effect at both low temperature and high temperature. When the material is compressed at a temperature lower than or equal to 100℃, the specimen fails along an inclined plane with an axial direction of about 45°, regardless of the strain rate of 0.001 s-1 or 1 s-1. When the material is compressed at a high strain rate (1500 s-1), no damage occurs in the composite material at either room temperature or high temperature.
